The formatting on bbc_merlin_news is beautiful and very readable. Looking at their pinboard, I also see that it's cleverly done in a simple way, with Murklin's script formatting the tags and picking up the word count (which is not as relevant to have as a tag) from the tilde prefix.
If we went with that style and wanted to include the same amount of information, editing the newsletter would be more time consuming, and it would mean leaving out much of or most of what the author themself considered the relevant header information.
On the other hand, the standardized and concise format really is easier to read.
