It's based on a fabulous fic by zvi - you don't need to read the original in order to understand this, but I highly recommend you check it out - her June/Neal stories are amazing. I was incredibly nervous about writing this fic - it's not a pairing I ever would ever have written on my own, and the original is so wonderfully balanced that I didn't think I'd be able to do it justice.     I keep reading White Collar fanfic that reminds me of what I felt the first time I read Iolokus; a sense that the spotlight has been turned off and the house lights have come on. They are stories that let the pancake makeup show, exposing a world that is ghoulish and cynical. A world in which the characters have not held fast to integrity, but have instead developed their ability to make concessions - and survive them.
